Mark Zuckerberg Stumps for ‘Open Source’ A.I.
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, has emphasized the importance of open-source artificial intelligence (A.I.) development in an open letter. He argues that it is impractical to believe that only a few companies can keep their A.I. technologies under wraps, especially given that Silicon Valley has long been a target for espionage from nations like China. Zuckerberg stated, “If governments will it, it’s their interest to open source it. The world will be prosperous and safer.” He cautioned that restricting the sharing of A.I. research would merely hinder innovation in the United States.
Additionally, Meta unveiled the latest iteration of its A.I. algorithm, named LLaMA, which is now the most advanced version available. The company also expanded support for seven new languages, including Hindi, French, and Spanish, for Meta AI, its A.I.-driven smart assistant.
